Southeast Asia/Kenya : Day 55 : Ten Hours in Auckland

Heading to Kenya. A long way to go.

I had a 10 hour layover in Auckland. Long enough to leave the airport and go into town.

One of my fellow divers was on the same flight. He’s staying in New Zealand for a few weeks. After taking an Uber to his hotel, I walked around..

I walked through Albert Park toward the Sky Tower.

I did not go into the Sky Tower. I’m tired of photos from up high!

I went to Weta Workshop Unleashed. It’s not the real Weta Workshop — that’s in Wellington — it’s just a little tour where you see some props and practical special effects work. It was nice.

My plan was to find a good seafood restaurant, but I passed a burger joint and couldn’t stop myself. I haven’t had a good burger since I left the States, and I didn’t expect to get one until I go back home.

Then a little more walking along the waterfront, until it started to sprinkle.

Now I’m sitting in the airport. Two more hours until boarding, then 17 hours until the next stop. (And then another 5 hour flight before I get to Nairobi. I am a long way away!)
