Made it to The Philippines!
I got a few photos from the airplane as we flew out of Phuket. They show all the little islands dotted everywhere, and all the boats heading out to the islands.

I had a long layover in Kuala Lumpur, then on to Manila.
From the airport to my Airbnb took a little over 2 hours, arriving around midnight. Should I have been worried when the driver pulled over and popped the hood?

The humidity was bad and his windscreen kept fogging up. He had no windshield wiper fluid, so he filled it with water. It did… okay.
The apartment itself has a great view. It’s big (3 bedrooms) with direct ocean access. Not a sandy beach, but I don’t want to lay on the beach anyway!

The host is very social; too social for my tastes. But the upside to that was dinner. He, his wife, and two of their friends came over and made a huge spread!

The highlight, though, was peanuts. They brought raw, straight from the ground, peanuts. They didn’t taste like peanuts at all! Then they boiled them and the taste came closer to what I expect. The roasted we usually get changes the flavor so much!

Also I made a timezone-aware timeline to figure out what day it is, from Austin, since I left. I was off by one day from my original thinking, but am now on track to be back in Austin 80 days after I left.

So now I can book the remainder of my flights. From Fiji to Kenya and back to Austin.
