France/Kenya 2024 : Day 14 : Work and Water

Trying (mostly successfully) not to work crazy hours. I was only the first one in the office and the last one to leave twice. Out of four days, so not amazing, but better than previous trips.

We had a nice team dinner Thursday at Ankole Grill.

I’ve been good the past month or so and lost 10 pounds. To ensure I don’t mess up while traveling I bought a little travel scale and brought it with.

Then the work week was over and it was off to Diani for diving!

Nairobi is fine, but doesn’t have views like this!

Dives were good. The reefs are much healthier than in the Caribbean.

Not sure if I was welcome or not. Got into a staring contest with this guy.

Nearly swam right past these camouflaged shovelnose guitarfish.

And as always we weren’t allowed to bring back our own lobster dinner.

Saw a few eels as always. This guy seems to be side eyeing me.

More direct eye contact.

While trying to figure out what kind of nudibranch this is, I may have found my new favorite site on the internet: https://nudibranchdomain.org/!

More eye contact? What did I do to them? (Other than come to their space making loud noises and gawking at the sites — seems normal for an American tourist!)

And, at the end of the second dive we saw our turtles.

Can’t hide from me!

The rest of the day I did nothing but lay around and nap. It’s only 5pm; dinner is at 7:30. I’ll go hang out by the ocean with a book or something until then. Two more dives tomorrow morning, and I’ll likely go into town for a bit in the afternoon.
