Kenya OctNov-2023 : Day 24 : Walking

I ended up doing a lot of walking around London today.

My initial goal was to get a new power cord for my laptop with a UK plug. It’s the same plug both here and in Kenya so it’ll be nice and handy! I went to the Apple Store on Regent Street and they had one in stock. (I’m using it now so I can sit on the bed and type, instead of at the desk in this room with it’s uncomfortable chair.)

Then I needed food. I had no destination in mind, so just stopped at Ramo Ramen in SOHO as I passed.

I decided to walk back to the hotel. Google said 35 minutes. I took my time and spent over two hours wandering around.

Went past the theater where Les Miserables is performed (they don’t run on Sunday or I’d probably have looked for tickets).

Meandered through Chinatown.

Made it to Leicester Square, but didn’t go into the LEGO store. There was a long line! (A similar line to the M&M store across the street.)

Trafalgar Square isn’t far from there, and I had a memory of seeing people walking around with churros. So…

Some activity down by the monument. There was music, dancing, and lots of flags. From a google search, it looks like they were waving the flag for Tamil Eelam.

Onward down Whitehall which was blocked off. Another google search and I believe it was for the AJEX Annual Remembrance Parade. I didn’t stay around to watch; I didn’t know how long the wait would’ve been.

Last time I was in London, Big Ben was covered for renovation. Not now.

Then I happened on a forgotten memory. Ocean Leisure is the watersports store where I first started asking questions about what underwater camera I should buy. Unfortunately it looks like they have gone out of business.
