Kenya OctNov-2023 : Day 1 : Made It

Started with thunderstorms in Austin that caused delays, but ended with me sitting in my Airbnb in Nairobi.

The worst part was probably London. Nearly two and a half hour layover, but still nearly didn’t make my connection. Lots of bussing us around the airport. Lots of walking from where the bus dropped us to some faraway part of the airport for passport control, or the next bus to another terminal. All I wanted was a shower in the lounge, but there wasn’t time for that.

They didn’t even stop at a regular terminal. We had to walk outside immediately. As the pilot said on takeoff from Dallas: London was cold and rainy.

Oh. Then there was the two hour line to get through passport control in Nairobi. But that’s kind of expected. At least I expected it. (Some people behind me were very fed up with the line and were stage-whispering it to each other enough that I put headphones on.)

But the Airbnb seems nice. I’ll look around more tomorrow.

Finally got a shower. Ate some Cliff bars (it’s midnight so nothing’s open). Now fingers crossed I can sleep.
