Kenya June-2023 : Day 16 : Boring Weekend Ahead

I planned to hike Mount Longonot and Hells Gate (we did Longonot last year) with a colleague and generally explore the area just north of Nairobi, but I had to cancel because I have too much work to finish before next week.

This morning I got out for breakfast at Artcaffe; such a weird plate to serve it on! I finished reading The Black Cloud while eating. Written by a British astrophysicist in the 50s because he was annoyed at how incorrect science fiction books were. I only stumbled upon it because I had gone down a random rabbit hole about how carbon is perfectly designed for life — and this book came up in passing.

Did some grocery shopping, some planning for the next couple days, took a nice long nap, and caught up on some YouTube. Including the latest Practical Engineering video where Grady uses Austin’s flood tunnel as his primary example.

Coming to Kenya this year has been a different kind of exhausting. Last year I didn’t have any important projects to finish. I was there to work with my colleagues on their projects. It’s harder to manage my time when I want to do both that and finish some projects of my own. Hopefully this weekend will help me catch up so I can have fun the last two weekends I have here!
