Yeah, skipped day 2. Was too tired once I got home to post. I may be in Kenya, but it’s really just a work day (what a weird perspective on being across the globe, right?). I’ll post when something interesting happens, or to summarize the week.
My water is now working. There was an air bubble in the pipes that took them a few hours to find and remove. The owner came by to apologize — right while I was reading up on Airbnb’s policies around bad properties. Hopefully there won’t be anything else big to deal with.
Otherwise the space is pretty nice. Definitely better than last time, though not as good as so many other places I’ve stayed over the years.

The jet lag is tough.
Yesterday I was very zombie like. Fortunately I had enough energy to go to Safaricom to figure out what to do about my SIM. Turns out after 120 days of inactivity they deactivate a SIM. There’s a fee I can pay to extend that; I’ll do that toward the end of my trip to get the longest extension I can.
They gave me a new physical SIM, but I have to wait three days to use it. If I was willing to get a new number I could have set it up right then, but I want to keep my Kenya number so I don’t have to change any of the places I’ve already used it.

SIM handled, I got some groceries. Only enough to last a few days. I didn’t have energy for much more. Then home and to sleep.
Lots of sleep.

Bacon for bacon, egg, and cheese tacos this morning.

Then I decided to not even leave the apartment. Still such a brain fog. I did some simple things like cleaning up my calendar for the new timezone and a little searching for what activities I want to do this month.
I texted with the dive shop I used last year and started to arrange a trip next weekend to do some diving! Dive shop knows I’m coming, but I haven’t paid yet — still waiting for some details from them. Flights are booked. Hotel is booked but not paid for — they want a bank transfer, but I’ve messaged them hoping I can just use a credit card.
A bunch of YouTube. And then some pasta for dinner.

A little more movement on my todo list, watched a movie, and now to bed. Hopefully this “wasted” weekend will work to get me past jet lag by the time I head back to the office.
