Ten hours of sleep! Finally! The fact that I only got home tonight at 2am means I have no idea what tonight’s sleep will be like, but it’s a start.
After getting up nice and late I had lunch at a cafe around the corner.

And then caught an Uber to a colleague’s home about an hour outside of town (with traffic, only 30 minutes without traffic). Driving past more of the many roadside shops.
I ended up spending the whole afternoon and evening there with him, his family, brother, cousin, and another colleague who lives nearby.
As can be expected with this guy, a fair amount of time was spent working on cars.

But then they took me to get some street food. All goat. The sausage was really good. The heart, pancreas, and small intestines were okay, but not amazing. (I never knew intestines were so chewy…)

We then drove to a place with a Swahili name that means Cold Corner, because it’s the corner of a road and the wind is blowing so hard that you get cold fast. But the view was magnificent!

Then back to his place for some supper.

And the rest of the evening just hanging out. We spent lots of time comparing Kenyan and US customs. And a lot of time with me learning about Sub-Saharan African politics. A bunch of countries that were colonized by Europe, had lines drawn on a map, and now they all think poorly of each other.
As it hit midnight I needed to get home. First we had to take my colleague’s brother to his apartment (he had way too much to drink and was in need of looking after).

Then my colleague gave me a ride all the way back to my Airbnb. We stopped once at a police checkpoint, but they had some rowdy people to deal with so we just drove past.

Now it’s after 2am. Hopefully I sleep until noon!
