A regular day working, just super tired the whole time. I got about four hours of sleep, then went to the office by around 9:30am and got home around 9:30pm. A pretty normal workday, just in Nairobi.
I didn’t think to take photos (I wasn’t thinking much the whole time), so how about some travel photos that I should have posted yesterday?
Traveling on Halloween is weird: the staff at the airport were costumed!

The first flight (AUS to AMS) was delayed by about an hour for four reasons:
- The incoming flight was a bit late
- The airport was short cleaners, so turnaround on the plane took a bit longer.
- They ran out of fuel mid-way through refueling, and we spent 40 minutes on the plane waiting for the fueling truck to leave, get more fuel, return, and finish fueling. Sigh.
At least the flight was empty, so everyone could stretch out.

My aisle seat made it tough to see Amsterdam on landing, but I did get a little peek.

Because we were late I only had about 45 minutes to get to my connection. Fortunately the Amsterdam airport doesn’t re-check security on flights arriving from the US. I made it to the gate after they had started boarding, but with enough time to board with my group.
My bags, however, did not. They remain in Amsterdam until Thursday when another KLM flight comes to Nairobi.
The wait for the bags was a long one, but eventually I made it to the little Airbnb I’m staying at for the month.

I’ve been chatting with the Airbnb host to get aa few kinks worked out (no hot water — this morning’s shower was shocking!). She’s been very responsive and it looks like this’ll be a nice home-base.
Some colleagues took me to the mall to pick up a toothbrush and whatnot in the evening, and I grabbed some pre-packaged food. (Chicken and leek pie. Tasty.) We have a company dinner planned tomorrow night, then I’ll head to the airport to get my luggage.
So I haven’t yet had to figure out groceries and cooking.

Ok. Back to sleep.
Yeah, I collapsed once I got home, but woke up 30 minutes ago and struggled to get back to sleep. Cross your fingers that I get more than four hours tonight!
