South Africa 2022 : Day 1 : Ice and Upgrades

Made it to Cape Town after a long day of travel. I really need to get to sleep. Wasn’t sure if I should post for this trip because it’ll be mostly work, but then I re-read some of my past posts and liked remembering. So: Hi, future, Kevin!

I got to the airport early because I couldn’t check in. I kept getting an error about some issue with my passport. Fortunately it was just that they needed to see the passport in person. So I got to the airport super early and watched them de-ice planes.

I put my name on the upgrade list for business class and it came through at the last second!

From Newark to Cape Town… such a long flight.
But it meant I could watch all eight episodes of the new Reacher TV series. Not bad. I vaguely remember the book it’s based on and a few parts definitely felt right. They sure went all-in on pointing out how big the Reacher actor is. Overcompensating for all the Tom Cruise hate?
Finally made it to the hotel. Met up with a colleague for dinner and a little walk around the “party” area. Now I just hope I can sleep and start working through the jet lag.
