Greece : Day 53 : Potatoes Please

Feeling better today. Slept well. Achy and a bit congested, but a calm stomach. Got a bit of work done, but definitely not at peak performance.

I did manage to go outside twice. Once in the morning to get some breakfast, and then again in the evening for dinner and a little sit on a bench by the sea.

Dinner was up on a balcony above the main road in town.

Steamed muscles in a spicy tomato and ouzo sauce.

While eating I did some googling. I can’t figure out what the potato pastries I’ve found here are called (other than “potato roll”) so I can figure out what seasoning they’re using that tastes so good. I’d say they’re my surprise favorite (I already knew I liked fresh seafood and gyros). All the pastry shops have them, but they never have them labeled. You just have to know what they are. I tried asking today, but the language barrier was too great.

While looking I found a place in New York that looked interesting. I’ll have to check them out the next time I’m there.

It looks like they have what I’m looking for. Of course it’s New York so they charge $5.25 for one whereas here they cost around 1.50€ each (roughly $1.66). Maybe it’s the dill I’m tasting. I’ll have to try some more.

Two dives tomorrow. Shallow dives. I’m tagging along with an instructor on his final checkout dives with an Open Water student and her husband.
