Got up for a sunrise photo, then back to sleep.
Taxi picked me up and took me to the airport. My plan was to get there around noon, check my bags and then go to Kamari a couple miles away for lunch.
Plan denied!
You’re not allowed to check backs here until two hours before your flight. So I sat. Bah.
While there I weighed my bags on their scale, just to make sure. All was good. One of the people working the desk asked if I was traveling alone and commented on how much luggage I had. I explained the scuba gear, but she did not seem impressed.
Then the waiting. The packed airport had no room for everyone. People sat on the stairs.
Then time to board.
Goodbye, Santorini.
Made it to Athens in good time. Very few bumps. The plane was bigger than I had expected, thank goodness. More waiting. One hour delay.
Then off to Zakynthos
Too dark as we landed to see anything. Mine was one of the last bags off the plane.
Taxi found my Airbnb easily, and I was greeted by two of the owner’s aunts who showed me around. Ate some cookies, and am ready for bed.
