Greece : Day 27 : The Wind Hates Me

I planned to try some sailing lessons this morning.

Last weekend the strong wind stopped my dive trips and upset the ferry schedule. Today the weak wind nearly forced us to cancel sailing. Luckily I’m a total beginner so a weak wind helped more than anything: I could do everything I needed to do slowly because the boat barely moved.

Here’s my instructor taking me to the sailboat after a brief lesson at a whiteboard.

I enjoyed the lesson, but definitely did not show any natural ability. Had there been strong winds, I would surely have spent most of my time in the water. Instead, I only got wet once when we practiced recovering from capsizing.

Went back and changed into dry clothes. There were people on some sort of stage that they just built up. I saw no sign of why the stage had been built.

After dried, I went on a hunt for a package that I sent from the US a couple weeks ago. It says online that the package has been out for delivery since 13-Sep. Uh oh.

Unfortunately the post office closed early.

So… an early dinner instead. Fresh mussels.

Then I went hunting again. This time for flip-flops that weren’t going to fall apart, but also weren’t going to break the bank. I’ll buy good ones when I get home, these will do for now. I’m so tired of wearing shoes!

While shopping, more people continued practicing on the stage.

I finished the night talking to a friend from San Francisco whose advice about Greece is: the honey is delicious. The little I’ve had, I’d agree. I should probably go find some more before leaving.
