I slept in, and then spent most of the morning packing. Tomorrow I get on a ferry bright and early and head to Paros.
I went for lunch around noon. Big mistake. The locals wanted their lunch too. I felt bad taking the time to ask all the questions I had about what was what. So I pointed at two things and picked the one that sounded best. I heard: “bacon and cheese.” Sold! I don’t know what they call them, but I’d say calzone-like.

After that, a little hiking on Filopappou Hill across from the Acropolis.
Monument of Philopappos.

Great view down to the sea.

And of the Acropolis.

Loud cicadas.
The Prison of Socrates (though they don’t really seem to think that’s what it was).

It was sunny and I didn’t put on sunscreen, so I decided to rest and eat some baklava.

Then I wrote messages to five dive shops near where I’ll be over the next few weeks. I’ve already heard back from four of them! Diving on the islands is going to be so much simpler than in Athens.
Dinner at a rooftop restaurant with a nice view. Lamb in lemon sauce with potatoes.

Then I went back up the hill from earlier. I’d spotted a few good places to take evening shots of the Acropolis. So I setup my tripod and waited. There was a guy from Switzerland in the same spot. We chatted about cameras, compared lenses, and reviewed all the traveling we were both doing.

Patience wins.
