Alaska : Day 9 : Salmon and Driving

The day started foggy and with too much construction (also a dirty windshield, but that’s just the way it is).

We made it to the Russian River Campground and took a 2.3 mile hike along a very nice path, alongside people going to fish, some walking, some biking.

Navigated through the mosquitoes until we got to the falls where salmon are massing in the hundreds!

They have to swim up the falls, which is definitely not easy.

At times, they jump out of the water (though not as much as TV may lead you to believe).

Then it was time to drive back to Anchorage. Today’s bald eagle sighting was from a distance as it flew away.

The birds around Anchorage were just where we left them. The wind was strong so some couldn’t fly fast enough to get away from my camera!

Finished with dinner at a restaurant in a bridge.
