Today’s activity was a hike through Portage Pass to see Portage Glacier.
But first, a cruise ship spinning in-place last night, because how else was it going to get out of the fjord?
This morning our resident bald eagle was in a nearby tower.

Not just hanging out, but being annoyed by other birds. Who clearly didn’t understand how dead they would be if the eagle wished it so.

Then a 3/4 mile walk from our hotel to the trail head.

The trail itself is four miles (two miles one-way). At the half way point there’s a nice overlook where you get a first view of the glacier and it’s valley.

Then the rest of the hike before you make it to a giant wall of ice.

We spent a good hour down there (I took a bunch of pictures that need a little Photoshop magic). Then it was time to head back, eat, and relax.

Tomorrow we get up early to make the one-way tunnel by 6:30 and head to Seward.
