Australia : Day 3 : Fish Market

Another day downtown. Yesterday I took 32,000 steps. My goal today was to walk much less. I still hit 20,000, but I took the train a lot more instead of walking everywhere. I don’t know why my feet aren’t killing me, but I’m definitely tired.

We picked up our friend from the U.K. this morning, so now all four of us are here, but today’s main adventure was visiting the Sydney Fish Market.

Although neat to observe, it was bad to eat. The place I got lunch from over cooked everything to the point of being rubbery. I got a huge platter to sample a little of everything: Chili & Garlic Lobster, King Prawn Skewer, Baby Abalones, Grilled Scallops, Oysters, BBQ Baby Octopus, Mornay and Kilpatrick Oysters, and Grilled Calamari. Such potential!

Then I stopped at  Paddy’s Markets. Lots to see, little to buy. Had a soda and relaxed in Hyde Park. Took a train (didn’t walk!) back to the harbor and did some sitting, some planning, and some ice cream eating.

Then a long ride on a ferry to see a little more of the coast line before grabbing some food. McDonalds. Tastes exactly the same. They even call it a “Quarter Pounder” — sorry Pulp Fiction fans, no Aussie remake. Their medium drink is about the size of our small, I’d be afraid to show them our large!

The day finished with my camera and tripod. I want a good photo of the Opera House. I may have gotten it; won’t know until after some photoshop time. The image looks promising though!

Tomorrow is the wedding, so I don’t have to walk to exhaustion. Maybe I’ll even sleep in!
